Top 10 Debt Payoff Planners in 2026: Comprehensive Review & Comparison
By The Upward Co. · Published 25 October 2026 · Listings and ratings read 23 to 25 Oct 2026
We compared the top 10 debt payoff planners in 2026: budget books with debt pages, debt-only log books, a workbook, two apps and our own large-print PDF. Each entry links to its listing for the current price, and shows how much room it gives your debts, whether it helps you pick a payoff order, and what buyers say.
We make one of these. The Upward Co. makes and sells The Family Debt & Savings Kit, ranked #2 below. We earn nothing from the other nine and none of them paid to be here.
What this review is based on: each product's own listing, the seller's page and published buyer reviews, read between 23 and 25 Oct 2026. We have not bought or tested the other nine products. Our own kit we know page by page because we made it.
4.7 from about 84K ratings (US App Store, rounded by Apple)

Rival prices are not shown: they differ by country and change often. Each entry links to its listing for the current US price. Ratings are the shop's own figures; a missing rating means none was shown.
How we ranked these debt payoff planners
We looked for what buyers of debt payoff planners complain about in low-star reviews, then ranked each product on four things:
Helps you choose a payoff order: snowball, avalanche, or your own.
Room for every debt: a frequent wish in buyer reviews.
Tracks progress and starts savings: so a surprise bill doesn't undo the plan.
Price and buyer proof: the listing price and the ratings behind it.
Ranking our own kit was the hard part. We put it where the evidence above puts it, and we list its drawbacks next to everyone else's. Where a rival is the better choice for a reader, the entry says so.

A budget book first: debt tracking is a back section, not a step-by-step payoff plan
“I bought this planner because I want this year to be the year that I pay off my debts and control my spending.”
5-star review: Amazon.com (summertime_sadness), 25 Jan 2026. Source
“On the budget page, there are many prefilled bills that don’t apply. It would be better to leave it blank so we can fully customize.”

Minor considerations
No buyer reviews yet; the Clever Fox planner at #1 has 30,250 ratings.
Written US-first (401(k), FDIC-insured accounts) with a UK note, and it can't promise a payoff date. Undebt.it at #3 does the payoff maths for free.
Why #2: It is the only planner here that combines a step-by-step payoff plan, a choice of method and savings buckets. It sits below #1 because #1 has tens of thousands of ratings and ours has none yet.

On buyer proof, the Clever Fox Budget Planner (4.6 from 30,250 Amazon ratings), which includes 12 debt trackers. If you want a step-by-step payoff plan with savings built in, our Family Debt & Savings Kit ($17). For free maths, Undebt.it. We make the Debt & Savings Kit.
Snowball or avalanche: which method do debt payoff planners use?
It depends on the planner. The Total Money Makeover Workbook follows Dave Ramsey's snowball. The Debt Free Journal and our kit explain both and let you choose. Undebt.it compares eight methods side by side.
Is a paper debt payoff planner better than an app?
Paper suits people who want to write every payment down; one Debt Free Journal reviewer wrote that physically writing debts down is motivating. An app such as Undebt.it updates the debt-free date for you. Many people use both.
How many debts can a debt payoff planner track?
Legend has 4 debt pages, SUNEE 8, Clever Fox 12. Log books such as the Aggressive Rooster tracker give one debt per page over 100 pages. Our kit's Debt List and Undebt.it have room for every debt you list.
Do debt payoff planners include savings?
The budget books (Clever Fox, Legend, SUNEE) have savings trackers. Our kit adds five savings buckets starting with an emergency fund. The log books are debt-only.
Is a debt payoff planner financial advice?
No. These are forms, trackers and general education. For advice on your situation, talk to a qualified adviser or a free debt charity.
How did you rank these debt payoff planners?
We read each listing, the seller's page and the published buyer reviews on 24 and 25 Oct 2026, then ranked on payoff-order help, room for every debt, savings, price and buyer proof. We did not buy or test the other nine.
Verdict
Want the most-proven book with debt pages in the back? The Clever Fox Budget Planner. Want a 90-day plan that puts every debt on one list, lets you pick snowball or avalanche, and starts a savings buffer? The Family Debt & Savings Kit. Either works well beside Undebt.it's free calculator.
